Growing up in Dubai, I was a typical 15-year-old teenager who struggled with high school life. Just when I thought that a fun school trip to London was going to give me a break from the stresses of school life, the universe had different plans.

Finding myself in a hospital bed in London when my friends were watching shows and having fun times, I was critically ill and fighting to survive. Who knew that a simple cough would turn into the fight of my life where I was trying to stay alive?

For five months living in a hospital and laying in my bed, I found myself wondering if this was going to be my life forever. This is the story of how I had to learn my new normal and balance my two lives at once.
